This story will be analyzing the article “There Isn’t Enough Privacy On Social Media And That Is A Real Problem” from Forbes. This article by Peter Suciu points out the concern that people have of the lack of privacy on social media and the reason why not too many people are deleting these apps and their accounts to stop this. For example it points out that most people keep these apps to stay in touch with friends and family and people of the younger generation use them as online tools. The data provided also shows how concerned people are about this especially within the last year with all the cyberattacks showing that most people updated or advanced their privacy settings after that. Another rather scary statistic that was provided in the article was the number of people that may have had their information fully exposed on deep web hacking forums. With a quarter of a million people that could have their personal information leaked within just one hacking forum, this shows just how big of a problem the lack of privacy can be on social media not only from big companies using our information to promote products, but it can also be used against us with hackers.
